In October, the city's Recreation and Parks Commission approved a $30M plan to renovate Embarcadero Plaza. This fulfills the vision that Friends of Embarcadero Plaza have been pursuing since 2022.
“It’s an exciting moment for this important space that’s really a gateway to San Francisco in many respects,” said Phil Ginsburg, general manager of the Recreation and Park Department in a recent article in the SF Examiner. “There’s so much more potential at Embarcadero Plaza than has been realized.”
This plan includes $15M of city funding and a $7.5M from BXP, the real-estate company that owns Embarcadero Center.
