After over two years of work by a team of civic leaders, The Bricks at Embarcadero Plaza is finally a reality!
The Bricks is a new Town Square celebrating San Francisco arts, food and culture. Mayor Breed said in a recent press release, "The Bricks at Embarcadero Plaza is the perfect complement to drive economic recovery throughout Downtown.”
The Bricks pilot will be open from August 7 to October 26, 2024 with daily art, food and music. The schedule includes Wednesday business mixers, Thursday trivia nights, Friday dance parties and Saturday family days celebrating San Francisco's cultural diversity.
Funding for the Bricks pilot was provided by Mayor London Breed's Office of Economic and Workforce Development as part of the city's investments in revitalizing downtown.
The Bricks is a project of Friends of Embarcadero Bricks, founded in June of 2022, in partnership with San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department. Team members include:
Chris Keene - Founder, Friends of Embarcadero Bricks
Eric Eislund - General Manager, Club Fugazi
Kevin Bartram - Owner, Bartram Partnerships
Marcus Guillard - Founder LMNL Studio
Ryan McNeil - Director, Special Projects, Advance SF
Katy Birnbaum - Event Producer, Founder, Into The Streets
Simon Bertrang - Executive Director, SF New Deal, fiscal sponsor for the Bricks.
Already, conversations initiated by the Friends of Embarcadero Bricks have been a catalyst for a broader vision to remake the entire Embarcadero Plaza area into a world class welcome mat for San Francisco. This vision has been led by the City of San Francisco, Embarcadero Center owner BXP and Design firm HOK.
