Chris Keene

Chris founded Friends of Embarcadero Bricks in 2022 to help revitalize downtown San Francisco in the wake of the pandemic. His goal was to replicate the community impact and success of Noe Valley Town Square, which he also founded.

Working in partnership with the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department and the Office of Economic and Workforce Development, Chris secured a $400,000 grant in 2024 to launch the Summer Bricks project. The initiative demonstrated the economic and community benefits of activating Embarcadero Plaza as a vibrant public space.

Chris also founded Friends of Slow Sanchez, which has grown into San Francisco’s most successful neighborhood slow street initiative.
